On August 3 and 4, 2026, a meat forum organized by the Philippine Association of Meat Processors (PAMPI) was held in the Philippines. Participants included Agroexport head Ilya Ilyushin, Russian Ministry of Agriculture representative in the Philippines Alexander Syrtsev, Russian Trade Representative Artem Tsinamdzgvrishvili, as well as several Russian companies. The Philippines is a major meat importer. In 2025, the country purchased pork and offal worth $1.2 billion, beef worth $700 million, and poultry meat worth $570 million.
In April 2025, Russia gained the right to supply beef, in July 2025 restrictions on poultry were lifted, and in December on pork. From January to June 2026, Russia exported over 14,000 tons of meat products (pork, beef, chicken, turkey) worth over $34 million to the Philippines. In the first half of 2025, there were no supplies. The forum discussed logistics, storage, payments, as well as expanding the product range: wheat, skimmed milk powder, whey, confectionery, fish, seafood, agricultural technologies, seeds, veterinary drugs, vaccines, genetic material, fertilizers.
Philippine Secretary of Agriculture Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. confirmed interest in cooperation. According to Agroexport, pork accounts for about 60% of meat consumed in the Philippines. Since 2019, local pig farming has suffered from African swine fever: the herd has shrunk to its lowest since 1994, creating long-term import demand.
