Kazakhstan Displaces US in EU Durum Market

Kazakhstan became the second-largest supplier of durum wheat to the EU, with 393,523 tonnes exported. Canada remains the largest supplier with 1.085 million tonnes.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, from September 2025 to July 30, 2026, grain and flour exports in grain equivalent amounted to 13.9 million tons, a 12.6% increase from the same period last year. Kazakhstan's position in the European durum wheat market is strengthening, with the country becoming the second-largest supplier to the EU in the 2025/26 marketing year. The EU imported 2.058 million tonnes of durum wheat, with Canada accounting for 56.1% of the market and Kazakhstan securing a 20.3% share. The US followed with a 12.4% share.

Kazakhstan's exports to the EU increased by approximately 120,000 tons, with its presence in the European market increasing by more than six percentage points to 20.3%.
