On August 4, 2026, Turkey's updated "Plant Quarantine Regulation" comes into effect. The brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys Stal) is included in the list of hazardous organisms that are limited in distribution in Turkey and serve as a basis for refusing imports. All vehicles and cargo entering the country must undergo treatment against this pest before shipment and be accompanied by a phytosanitary disinfection certificate. Disinfection will not be performed on Turkish territory - infected products will be returned to the country of origin.
The new rules apply to the export, import, re-export, and transit of plants, plant products, and other materials. The measure aims to prevent the spread of the quarantine object. Source: Rosselkhoznadzor.
