The Kazakhstan Grain Union reports that heat waves in several regions of Kazakhstan are hindering a high grain harvest. A Kazhydromet report states that productive moisture reserves in arable soil remain insufficient, with air temperatures reaching +35°C during the critical phase of spring wheat ripening. According to Union analyst Evgeny Karabanov, dry and hot weather in some regions is not conducive to a high grain harvest. Winter grain harvesting continues in southern and western regions, while harvesting of early barley and legumes has begun in northern regions.
The Ministry of Agriculture has no concerns about the loss of part of the grain harvest.
